The forward of the national team of Germany and the outsider club of the Bundesliga, Oliver Neuville, injured his groin in training and will not be able to help his team anymore this season.
The 33-year-old veteran has just recovered from surgery in January, which was needed to treat the adductor muscle. The player will undergo groin surgery in Munich on Monday.
"We believe that Olli (Oliver Neuville) will not be able to play between four and six weeks. That is why we decided to perform the operation now so that he can be healthy and ready to play in the preseason matches," said Borussia Mönchengladbach's team doctor Stefan Hertlas.
O. Neuville, who joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2004 and extended his contract with the club for another two years this March, has managed to beat opponents' goalkeepers 4 times this season.
Mönchengladbach currently occupies the last, 18th place in the Bundesliga with only three rounds left until the end of the championship, with 25 points, and is close to relegation to the lower division of the German championship.
