In the 7th round match of the Lithuanian A League in Vilnius, "Vėtra" faced the Lithuanian champion "Kaunas" club and suffered their first home defeat of the season with a score of 0-1. The only goal of the match was scored at the beginning by "Kaunas" striker Ričardas Beniušis.

"Vėtra" made changes to their starting lineup compared to previous matches, with Julius Raliukonis replacing the injured Marijana Budimir in defense, Egidijus Juška moving to the safe line, and Vitalis Stankevičius starting upfront again. "Kaunas" started the match with the same lineup as in the 6th round match against "Žalgiris".
The guests from "Kaunas" immediately threatened after their first dangerous attack. In the 5th minute, after a pass from Rafael Ledesma, Ričardas Beniušis, the league's top scorer, broke through one-on-one in the penalty area and skillfully beat Vaidas Žutautas with a precise shot to score his 10th goal.
"Vėtra" tried to equalize with an inaccurate penalty kick from Nerijus Sasnauskas, but they failed to break through the opponent's defense and create more dangerous opportunities. "Kaunas" once again threatened with a long shot from Oleg Strachanovic, and later a pass from the corner failed to reach R. Beniušis.
With both teams playing cautiously in the middle of the field, the first half ended with a score of 0:1 in favor of the visitors.
After the break, "Vėtra" started playing more successfully, with Gediminas Butrimavičius testing the "Kaunas" goalkeeper Mindaugas Malinauskas with a long shot, while Pedro's attempt from a distance was unsuccessful. Soon after, "Kaunas" launched a quick attack, and after managing to get the ball into the goal, R. Beniušis shot, but V. Žutautas was in the right place.
In the 63rd minute, "Vėtra" had a great opportunity to equalize - after lifting the ball into the penalty area with a penalty kick, Andrius Skerla won the battle "in the air" and headed the ball, but the unmarked Algirdas Jankauskas missed the goal from close range.
The last half hour of the game became more open, with both teams exchanging quick attacks, but they were unable to finish with more accurate shots on goal. Givi Kvaratskhelia from "Kaunas" tried his luck from distance a couple of times, while R. Ledesma missed the goal from close range.
At the end of the match, "Vėtra" threw all their efforts into the attack, but to no avail, while the visitors almost doubled their lead when Artūras Rimkevičius broke away one-on-one and shot just next to the goal guarded by V. Žutautas. The match ended with a victory for "Kaunas" with a score of 0-1.
