In the World Cup qualifying match, the Argentine team secured another victory, defeating Paraguay at home 1:0.

However, this match made headlines in the press not only because of the final result.

In the 53rd minute, after appearing in the substitution area, Argentine leader Lionel Messi received a "welcome" from his opponent - it was captured on camera as Antonio Sanabria attempted to spit on the world-class star.

After the game, the forward commented on the incident.

"After the match, I was informed in the dressing room that some opponent tried to spit on me. I didn't see that moment myself.

The truth is, I don't even know who that player is. I don't want to dwell on this incident because if it's talked about, that player might become famous," clarified L. Messi.

The 27-year-old forward A. Sanabria currently plays for Torino, but in the past, he was part of Barcelona's youth team and even trained with the main Catalan team in 2012, when L. Messi was defending their colors.
