Gabriel Veiga's transfer to Saudi Arabia this summer probably surprised the most out of all the transfers related to the newly emerging world league.
The 21-year-old Spaniard was long linked with Premier League clubs: Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City. In the end, Napoli was close to acquiring this talent, but Al Ahli's money lured the youngster.
He stood solidly behind his decision for "El Larguero" newspaper: "I didn't go to Saudi Arabia for money.
This was the best option for me to improve as a player, to grow playing in a team with a good coach, stars, and in such a growing league as the Saudi Arabian professional league.
I am one hundred percent proud of my choice," said the former Celta Vigo player.
