After the match between "Sūduva" and "Šiauliai", both coaches of the teams admitted that the course of the match was determined by tactical decisions and goalkeeper errors.
"We thought that defense was the strong part of the team, but in almost every match we conceded several goals. Playing against "Atlantas", we allowed them to score three goals, so before the match against "Sūduva" we decided to change our tactics, we saw that we needed to defend differently and we tried to implement that during this match," said "Šiauliai" coach Rytis Tavoras.
R. Tavoras admitted that his players succeeded in taking advantage of opportunities: "Although the game was not beautiful, the team played well, starting from the attackers, ending with the defenders and the goalkeeper. After scoring the first goal, the goal was only to defend, but I always said, if the team defends well, there are two or three opportunities to score goals, they need to be used. Today it worked out."
The mood of "Sūduva" head coach Algimantas Gabrys after the match was not good.
"We did not think that the match against "Šiauliai" would be easy, as expected, "Šiauliai" took the initiative, defended with seven players and counterattacked, and without attackers you cannot overcome such defense. We practically played without attackers, so we failed to create chances, and we conceded goals due to two goalkeeper errors," said A. Gabrys.
According to the Marijampolė strategist, G. Padimanskas, who replaced the injured S. Klevinskas, lacked playing practice: "Our goalkeeper was injured, Padimanskas hadn't played in a long time, he made two major mistakes, so we lost. Even though we had the initiative, there were no players in front who could make a decisive impact and score. We created and worked, but without success, while "Šiauliai" chose a clever tactic and beat us tactically."
