According to the English media, the Arab team "Al-Ettifaq" decided to end negotiations with the experienced player because they could not afford the salary Lingard demanded.

J. Lingard was dreaming of a weekly salary of around 130,000 pounds sterling (7 million annual income).

Nevertheless, the Saudi Arabian team said "no" as they already have another English player, Jordan Henderson, who receives a hefty salary of 700,000 pounds sterling per week.
