One of the best, but also one of the most controversial world goalkeepers of recent times Fabien Barthez's career seems to have finally ended.

The Frenchman, who holds the titles of world champion and vice-champion in his collection, is defending the goal this season. However, F. Barthez's sports form was not as expected - he did not demonstrate reliable play and made childish mistakes that cost the team important points. The patience of the team's fans was finally exhausted when news came out that during one of the training sessions, the goalkeeper dangerously tried to take the ball and injured a teammate.

After another defeat, F. Barthez and a member of his family were on their way home when five intoxicated "Nantes" fans blocked the way for the luxurious "Porsche." It is said that one of them tried to enter the car, while the others hit and kicked the vehicle.

The footballer rushed to defend his property and got involved in a fight with one of the attackers. Local security officers immediately stopped the fight. After the incident, F. Barthez left in an unknown direction and did not participate in several "Nantes" training sessions, as the team almost has no hope of staying in the top league.

"I will no longer play in this team," said the 36-year-old goalkeeper in a shaken state. "This is completely unrelated to football. I no longer feel safe, and it will be better if I leave."

"He is psychologically traumatized," defended the player, "Nantes" president Rudi Roussillon.

"In football, F. Barthez is not a newbie, he has seen and experienced a lot, but I know one thing - he cannot tolerate psychological violence. That's exactly what our goalkeeper experienced on Saturday.

"He left Nantes to recharge his batteries and be with his family. It's understandable. I tried to lift his spirits all weekend."

For now, R. Roussillon dared not answer whether the Frenchman will return to the "Nantes" team: "At the moment, the most important thing is to help him as much as possible.
