The Leverkusen club, occupying 6th place in the German Bundesliga championship, will bid farewell to their long-time main goalkeeper Hans-Jorg Butt at the end of the season. The 32-year-old goalkeeper with the Bayer team previously terminated his contract and will become a free agent on June 30. The footballer had the opportunity to do so because he played less than half of the matches in the second half of the Bundesliga championship. J.But has recently lost his main goalkeeper position and gave way to the young 22-year-old talent Rene Adler. The veteran goalkeeper's contract with Leverkusen club was valid until June 30, 2009. J. Butt is currently looking for a new club, but has not disclosed anything specific: "No contracts have been officially signed yet, but there is interest in my services from Spain and England. I want new challenges and will announce everything in the future." The goalkeeper who often scores penalties has represented Rudi Voller's German national team three times and played 190 matches for the Bayer team during the six years of his career. "We understand Hans-Jorg Butt's decision. He has always defended our team's goal excellently," said Wolfgang Holzhauser, a representative of Bayer's management, to the press. In addition to the current main goalkeeper of Leverkusen, the team also has two goalkeepers, Benedikt Fernandez and Eric Domaschke. Meanwhile, Bayer has also received reinforcements. The German club agreed to acquire Chile's Colo Colo club midfielder Arturo Vidal for a sum of 5.2 million euros, who is supposed to take the place of Brazilian national team defender Juan. The transfer to BayArena is also linked to Cologne's defender Lukas Sinkievich. The player announced that he will leave his current team in the summer and Bayer could buy him for 1.6 million euros.
