Miami's "Inter" forward Lionel Messi could add an exceptionally rare victory to his trophy collection.
As AS wrote, the World Champion could be awarded the "Super Golden Ball" in the future.
This trophy is awarded to the best player of the last three decades, and so far it has only been awarded once in 1989 to the legendary Madrid "Real" forward Alfredo Di Stefano.
The laureate was chosen by counting the votes of fans, the "France Football" commission, and former "Golden Ball" winners.
In second place at the time was the Dutchman Johan Cruyff, and third place went to the Frenchman Michel Platini. However, at that time, only Europeans were evaluated in the elections, and players like Pele or Diego Maradona were left out of the reckoning.
According to the media, the "Super Golden Ball" elections could be held again in 2029, and L. Messi would be the obvious favorite.
