The star of the Spanish national football team, Irene Paredes, dreamed of an impressive achievement, but for now, these hopes will have to be postponed to the future.
This week, the Spanish played a UEFA Nations League match in Zurich, where they trounced the Swiss team 7-1.
It was supposed to be Irene Paredes' 100th jubilee match in the national team's lineup, but fans did not see their beloved footballer either on the field or on the bench.
It was later revealed that the incident occurred due to a software error.
On the eve of the match, the leaders of the Spanish Football Federation could not update the player lineup in the official UEFA match program.
Coach Montse Tome said:
"It was some kind of computer error, and even while still in the hotel, I explained everything to Irene Paredes. I had to adapt to the situation and field the starting lineup that you saw."
