Kroatian national team and Bayer Leverkusen defender Marko Babic will leave his current club this summer as his contract is expiring. "After eight years spent in Leverkusen, I am looking for a new sporting challenge. I want to thank the club for many things, as playing here I was invited to represent my country," said M. Babic. "I agree with M. Babic's decision. During those years, he performed his job well. This will be beneficial for both his sporting and personal development," commented Bayer's sports director Rudi Völler on the player's decision. Having participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the Croatian has played 144 Bundesliga matches and scored 13 goals.
