The Italian press did not hesitate to praise the team, which broke through to the prestigious tournament final after a superb performance in the UEFA Champions League semi-final match.

“Excellent, excellent, excellent,” proclaims the biggest sports newspaper “La Gazzetta dello Sport” on its front page, as if congratulating each goal by Carlo Ancelotti's players and the final victory with a score of 3-0, which greatly surpasses the modest Italian defeat in the first match in Manchester 2-3.

Six-time European champions in the final, which will take place on May 23 at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, will compete with [Liverpool] and will have a chance to avenge the dramatic loss two years ago.

“Milan gave a lesson in football to their opponents,” the newspaper continues, immediately adding that “Liverpool” cannot expect a miracle like in 2005, when after trailing 0-3 in the first half, the Englishmen found the strength within themselves, leveled the score, and won a historic victory after an 11-meter penalty shootout.

“In this final in Athens, it will be a completely different, united team, determined and hungry for success, as compensation for the unforgettable loss two years ago in Istanbul,” La Gazzetta dello Sport proclaims.

The newspaper also did not spare sharp words for the 'young and inexperienced' leaders of "Man Utd" Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, who found no antidote to the powerful and warm, and cold Milan players' game.

“Rooney - it was as if a little puppy compared to the first match, where he fought like a lion,” writes the press and rates the Englishman's performance as 5 out of 10.

“C. Ronaldo - he was like a small rabbit against the roaring of a powerful lion (Gennaro Gattuso),” the best player in the English Premier League is rated with 4 points.
