In the World Cup qualification, the Argentine national team suffered their 3rd defeat to Brazil in 6 games. This was also the 1st loss for Brazil in their stadium in the history of World Cup qualification matches. The match was delayed for a while due to clashes in the stands.

The only goal was scored by Nicolas Otamendi.
