Argentinian national team leader Lionel Messi recalled the World Cup in Qatar that took place at the end of last year.
The South American team had a successful performance and played several impressive matches in the knockout stages.
One of such matches was the quarterfinals against the Netherlands, where the Argentinians triumphed after an 11-meter penalty shootout.
Argentina could have won the match more easily, as they were leading 2-0 after Messi's penalty goal in the 73rd minute.
Then the forward ran to the opponents' bench and performed the celebration of the "Topo Gigio" goal.
"Nevertheless, after running there and covering my ears immediately, I regretted it. I quickly realized that I acted like an idiot, as the opponents could still catch up with us. This often happens during matches," clarified L. Messi, who was fueled by additional motivation due to comments from the Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal in the press.
"I felt disrespect from the coach's side, and during the match, some of the opponents' players talked too much."
