For the past seven years, Valdemaras Borovskij, who represented "Riteriai", is ending his professional football career. After meeting with club leaders and discussing future prospects, the former professional footballer now takes on a new role and begins training the players of the Riteriai Football Academy.

"To be honest, I hesitated for quite some time between continuing my career and ending it. Of course, it's easy to speculate now, but if "Riteriai" had remained in the "Optibet A League", maybe everything would have turned out differently. I have no regrets, I wish everyone to experience what I went through in my career," said V. Borovskij.

In 2010, the defender, who moved from Vilnius "Geležinis Vilkas" to Vilnius "Vėtra," began his career in the A League. In total, he played 364 matches in the strongest Lithuanian football division and ranks among the top three players with the most matches played in the entire history of independent Lithuania.

In early 2017, V. Borovskij moved from "Jonava" to the then "Trakai". Over the seven years with "Trakai" or "Riteriai," he played 227 matches and became the club's record holder by this indicator. Playing in the defender position, he scored 12 goals and made 23 assists.

"I have a lot to remember about every year spent in the club. Of course, it's a pity that we couldn't win any titles. Maybe even that the last season would be remembered more for victories than defeats," said the long-time captain of "Riteriai."

As Valdemaras Borovskij transitions from a footballer to a coach, he will start working with the youngest players at the Riteriai Football Academy.

"I have gathered a huge amount of experience, so I definitely have a lot to share. I enjoy working with children, children like me, so I have no doubt we will find common ground. As a budding coach, I have set several goals: first of all, the activities should spark interest for the child, not just for the parents of the child, secondly - the child itself should want to win, and thirdly - it would be an honor for me to raise a player to the national team," spoke V. Borovskij about his new venture.
