The goalkeeper of the Turkish national team, Yildiray Basturk, has signed a three-year contract with the Berlin club. Last season, Basturk also played in Germany for the Leverkusen team.
The 25-year-old player was actively pursued by Bremen, Glasgow, and other clubs, but the Turk chose the Berlin team, which finished in 12th place in the last Bundesliga championship.
"Hertha" President Dieter Hoeness was pleased with Basturk's arrival: "I am satisfied with this addition to our team. Yildiray is one of those players that we were really missing. He is fast and handles the ball well. This will allow us to shape our defensive line game, where Basturk will likely play alongside Marcelinho."
Basturk himself, after three years spent in Leverkusen, is preparing for a new challenge this season: "Berlin's Hertha is among the main teams in Germany and I want to help them achieve as much as possible." - said the player. "The club has great potential and I am ready for a tough test."
