Stopping construction works of the National Stadium

Construction of the National Stadium, surrounded by legends - once again suspended.

Immediately, disagreements arise over price indexing.

As informed by the authorized representative of the stadium concession company "Vilnius Multifunctional Complex" L. Kavaliauskas, construction issues are currently being negotiated according to the contract with the Vilnius municipality and the Ministry of Finance.

Recall that this year the project of the Vilnius multifunctional complex entered a new stage - a construction permit was issued for the National Stadium and the sports museum located in it.

The construction of the stadium - along with the entire Multifunctional Complex - should be completed by 2025. The project is carried out by the concessionaire UAB "Vilnius Multifunctional Complex".

"This is another major step towards the emergence of a Multifunctional Complex in Vilnius in the near future. The obtained building permit will allow the start of construction works for the National Stadium next month," said Šarūnas Stepukonis, the head of UAB "Vilnius Multifunctional Complex".

The National Stadium will have three above-ground floors and basement premises. The building's basement will house a sports museum, players' premises, and a media area. The first floor will feature regular and VIP spectator zones, as well as a commercial area where spectators will be served by various catering establishments. The VIP spectator zone extension will be located on the second floor of the building, and auxiliary and administrative premises on the third. The total area of the stadium is 15.9 thousand square meters.

A park will be located in the area around the National Stadium: new maple trees, pines, maples, oaks, lindens, apple trees, olive trees, and various shrubs and decorative plants will be planted here, which will not only decorate the surroundings, create space for the local community, but also serve another function - suppress noise, reduce urban heat, and prevent dust from spreading in strong winds.

It is estimated that planting the park will cost over 2 million euros. The multifunctional complex project will be implemented in parts - first, the longest construction of the stadium with the sports museum will begin. Later, at the end of this year, construction works will begin on the cultural center, athletics facilities, sports center, and kindergarten.

All objects will be finished at the same time. The multifunctional complex in Šeškinė will occupy an area of over 228 thousand square meters.
