On Monday, the doctor of legendary Argentine national team player Diego Maradona announced that the former football star has been released from psychiatric clinics, but will have to continue treatment for alcoholism at home.
Doctor Alfredo Cahe told the Reuters news agency that in March, Maradona was diagnosed with liver inflammation due to alcohol, and two weeks ago the Argentine was transferred to psychiatric clinics.
One of the greatest footballers of all time, Maradona, will now have to visit clinics three times a week and continue treatment.
"We will continue to care for his liver," said A. Cahe. "The most important factors are abstaining from consuming alcoholic beverages, which he is doing well, and the effects on the liver. Liver inflammation evolves and this needs to be controlled. He is feeling better and better."
