P. Širvys leaves Panevėžio club after three years

As the upcoming season approaches, we will not see Pijus Širvys in the ranks of the Lithuanian champion football club "Panevėžys." The team tried to keep the defender in the squad, but the player who became a free agent decided to accept an offer from a foreign club.

In the capital club of Aukštaitija, P. Širvys spent three seasons - during this period, he celebrated winning the Supercup and became a Lithuanian champion for the first time. The defender is one of the few players who have played a three-digit number of matches for "Panevėžys."

In the last season of the Lithuanian championship, P. Širvys scored 7 goals and made 6 assists in 34 matches. Additionally, in the 2023 season, four matches were played with “Panevėžys” in the UEFA Conference League qualification rounds and one match in the Lithuanian Football Federation Cup.

"Only warm memories will remain about "Panevėžys," we became Lithuanian champions. Last season we were like a family, and I will never forget what we all achieved together. I think now is the best time to go abroad. I have proven that I am worthy of moving up the ladder, I will give my all, and whatever happens, happens," said P. Širvys on the website fk-panevezys.lt.
