On Tuesday, the President of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Liutauras Varanavičius, and the Mayor of Vilnius, Juozas Imbrasas, agreed to work together to preserve and renovate the football stadiums and fields in the capital city, as well as to pay more attention to children's football.
The meeting was also attended by the Vice-Mayor of Vilnius, Algirdas Paleckis, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Lithuanian Football Federation and the Vilnius City Council, Gintautas Babravičius.
"We have agreed with the leaders of Vilnius to review all football stadiums and fields in the city – of various conditions and ownership – and together we will strive to preserve them," said the President of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Liutauras Varanavičius, after the meeting.
According to him, the Vilnius leaders also assured that the establishment of the New Vilnius Football Academy will continue, and they reaffirmed their decision regarding the Šeškinė and Žalgiris stadiums.
The Lithuanian Football Federation presented its proposals to increase children's involvement and participation. LFF leaders suggested that money for post-school education for children be allocated to clubs based on the number of active participants. It was agreed with the city leaders that they will continue to work together to implement this idea.
