After winning the Lithuania's "A league" match against the other capital team "Žalgiris" with a score of 2-1, the head coach of "Vilnius" Antanas Vingilys was satisfied with the team's performance.
"The match was won, so it can be said that the team's goals were achieved. We did not expect an easy match, because it was a derby where it was decided who would stay in the first place. The match was intense, nervous. I think both teams, spectators, and coaches were under tension. "Žalgiris" left an impression of a very well prepared physically, very combative, very disciplined team" - said the "Vilnius" strategist.
According to A. Vingilys, the end of the match was nerve-wracking due to the team's lack of experience.
"Our men are young, they still lack experience to manage such matches. The coach cannot run onto the field and give advice. It simply requires experience. If Muller had taken the opportunity and scored the third goal, the match would have been resolved. The team lacks an experienced player who could regulate the pace of the game. That's why sometimes we create problems for ourselves. And the team that loses, goes "all in", so it turns out that way" - said the head coach of "Vilnius".
According to A. Vingilys, the excellent performance of "Vilnius" in the first A league round was determined by successful team play. The strategist was not inclined to highlight team leaders: "In the first round of the championship, I would highlight team play. The best matches, the best quarters were exactly team-oriented. Of course, there were also individual actions. All this was coordinated. It was not like one player would win the match"
A. Vingilys was pleased that new Brazilian legionnaires Kleyras, Erasmo, and Andresonas fit perfectly into the "Vilnius" team: "We hoped that these footballers would strengthen the team. And that's what happened. It's great that their integration into the team happened so quickly. I'm glad we found a common language quickly. The results show everything"
