For the ninth time, the head coach of the English Premier League champion club, Sir Alex Ferguson, believes that the team has no chance of winning the UEFA Champions League final against the Italian eleven, which will take place in Athens on May 23.
Carlo Ancelotti's "Milan" defeated "Man Utd" in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with an overall score of 5-3, securing a spot in the final, where they will face "Liverpool" just like in 2005.
"I am absolutely certain that "Milan" will win the Champions League," said the longtime "Red Devils" manager to "The Sun". "After our semifinal match, I told "Milan" coach Carlo Ancelotti that he simply must win the final."
Ferguson plans to celebrate "Milan's" victory with a bottle of wine given to him by Ancelotti after the lost semifinal match in Italy.
"Carlo gave me an amazing bottle of wine," added 65-year-old Ferguson. "But I told him that I will only drink it if "Milan" manages to win the UEFA Champions League."
Additionally, the Scottish expert admitted that after the 3-0 defeat to "Milan," the Italian club was superior to his team in every aspect.
The coach also stated that his team was very tired from the previous week's Premier League matches, which negatively affected their performance against "Milan." After draws with "Arsenal" and "Chelsea," "Man Utd" secured the title, which they hadn't won since 2003.
"The return leg against the "Milan" team was stunning, fantastic, and extraordinary," said Ferguson. "But I think our match against Liverpool's "Everton" took a lot of energy, where we managed to turn around a 2-0 defeat to a 4-2 victory."
"However, last week "Milan" looked fresher and better prepared both tactically and physically," explained the coach. "I am still trying to analyze the reasons for the defeat. But the truth remains that we had to withstand one of the best resistances in the history of the "Milan" club."
On Wednesday, "Man Utd" will face a London team in a non-decisive but principled match against the club that lost the Premier League trophies for two consecutive years. The last match of "Man Utd" will be played at home against a London club.
