The club of Panevėžys experienced failure in friendly matches

In preparation for the 2024 season, the "Panevėžys" football club played one of the friendly matches in Liepaja. The Lithuanian champions from the port city of Latvia 1:2 (0:1) were defeated by the local "Liepaja" team.

Arriving in Liepaja on Tuesday, the players trained for a couple of hours the next day and played friendly matches.

Throughout the first half, the Panevėžys team controlled the ball longer, but lacked sharpness in the final attacking phase. The opponents had a good chance - which Vytautas Černiauskas successfully saved.

In the 30th minute, after a mistake in their own half, two "Liepaja" players pressed against the "Panevėžys" goalkeeper and surged ahead.

After the break, following a corner kick, Ignas Venckus appeared in the second half and struck at the goalkeeper. In the 68th minute, after a substitution, the goalkeeper made an inaccurate pass and the opponent sent the ball into the empty goal.

In the 83rd minute, the result was equalized by Nojus Lukšys, who scored consecutively in the second match, technically stopping the ball and defeating the "Liepaja" goalkeeper.

"Panevėžys" starting lineup: Vytautas Černiauskas, Markas Beneta, Linas Klimavičius, Kasparas Dubra, Mindaugas Grigaravičius, Matijus Remeikis, Danielis Romanovskis, Federico Palaciosas, Ernestas Veliulis, Kwadwo Asamoah, Noelis Mbo.

There will be no time to rest - on January 19, Friday, "Panevėžys" will also test its strength against the Latvian champions Riga RFS in Liepaja. The match starts at 15:00.
