In Group A of the Africa Nations Cup, Equatorial Guinea shocked the tournament hosts Ivory Coast with a result of 4:0.

The winners took the lead in the 42nd minute through Emilio Nsue. Pablo Ganetas doubled the score in the 73rd minute. E. Nsue made it a triple in the 75th minute with a brace. Jannick Buyla added another goal in the 88th minute.

In other matches in this group, Nigeria defeated Guinea-Bissau with a score of 1:0.
