On January 23, an extraordinary general meeting of members of the Lithuanian Futsal and Beach Soccer Association took place.
During the meeting, the changed name of the association was approved - from now on the association will be called the Lithuanian Futsal Association (LSFA).
Sharing thoughts on this decision, the president of the association, Darius Gurskis, emphasized that this is more of a procedural matter.
"A minimal reorganization was carried out and the word 'beach' simply disappears from the association's name. Until now, our association had competence in both beach and futsal soccer, and from now on only futsal will remain."
The management of beach soccer will be taken over by the Lithuanian Football Federation. This change will allow separate budgets for futsal and beach soccer.
We believe that these changes will allow us to focus more on the development of futsal," commented D. Gurskis.
This sentiment was agreed upon by LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius.
"There won't be too many changes in the association's activities, just from now on all attention will be focused on futsal, while beach soccer activities will be transferred to the federation's structure in the form of a department," said E. Stankevičius.
