The vice-champions of the Netherlands, from Amsterdam, have reinforced their ranks with the secure Laurent Delorge, who represented the club that dropped out of the "Eredivisie".
The Belgian has signed a two-year contract with "Ajax" and will represent the team from Amsterdam until the summer of 2009. L.Delorge joined "Den Haag" last summer and signed a three-year contract, but after this season he left the relegation-threatened team by using a condition in the contract, which states that the agreement can be terminated if the team drops out of the highest division.
"Recently I have worked hard and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity that arose, because you never know when you will receive an offer from "Ajax" again. I hope to thrive playing at a higher level," said the 27-year-old Belgian who can play as a midfielder and defender.
L.Delorge started his career in 1998 at the "Gent" club, later representing England's "Coventry City" for four seasons. In 2002, the footballer returned to Belgium, playing for "Lierse" and Brussels' "Anderlecht".
"Ajax" became the vice-champions of the Netherlands this season, but they won the country's cup. The legendary Amsterdam club started the battle in the playoffs for the right to play in the Champions League with a 1-0 loss against "Heerenveen".
