Namibian national team and German Bundesliga club goalkeeper Collin Benjamin has agreed to extend his contract for another three years and will remain with the coastal team until June 30, 2010.
The 28-year-old footballer, whose previous contract was set to expire after this season, played 19 matches this year in the Hamburg team and his last match against "Bochum" was his 100th Bundesliga appearance. In total, the goalkeeper scored 11 goals in Germany.
"I am happy to stay in the Hamburg team. I feel very comfortable here, and that's why I'm satisfied to extend my contract," said C. Benjamin.
"Collin has been constantly improving with the Hamburg team. That's why we wanted him to sign a new contract and we are pleased that everything has been successful," said Hamburg's sports director Dietmar Beiersdorfer.
After a very poor start this season, Hamburg managed to climb out of last place in the Bundesliga in the second half of the season under a new coach and currently sits in 12th place with just two rounds left to play.
