Recently debuted in the English national team, club captain Scott Parker has become another player in the team to suffer an injury. He will miss the upcoming Sunday match against the eleven as he will undergo a hernia operation.
The 26-year-old midfielder traveled to Germany to undergo the operation and will now be able to concentrate and prepare for the start of the next season. It is believed that he will recover in time for the preseason training taking place in July.
Parker became the 14th player this season to go under the surgeon's knife. On Friday, the club announced that Irish defender Damien Duff also underwent a leg operation.
"Newcastle" team captain has managed to score 3 goals in this season of the Premier League and has also scored once in the Carling Cup.
"Damien Duff underwent a leg operation due to an injury suffered on April 14th in a match against , " the club statement reads. "The Irish national team player could not play after the match against Portsmouth, and on Friday he underwent a surgery on his right leg. It went successfully and the left-back was released to recover in Dublin."
"Newcastle," which was recently left by coach Glenn Roeder, is currently in 13th place in the English championship.
