After a 2-1 victory in the Lithuanian Football A League derby of the tenth round against "Vėtra," the head coach of "Vilnius," Antanas Vingilys, admitted that the team played two different halves. Dominating the game and scoring two goals before the break, in the second half they often had to defend against attacks from the opponents who had the initiative.
A.Vingilys stated that the team lacked physical strength: "It was quite tough. These were already our tenth match in the championship in a short period, so fatigue is simply felt. However, now there will be longer breaks between matches, so everything will fall into place."
A. Vingilys did not want to emphasize the fact that this was the first victory of "Vilnius" against "Vėtra" in official matches.
"We did not think about that. We prepared to play as against any other team. I believe that this victory against "Vėtra" will not be the last," said the "Vilnius" strategist.
After securing the victory on Saturday, "Vilnius" continues to lead the A League with 24 points, surpassing "Kaunas" in second place by two points. The next match for "Vilnius" will be on May 19 (Saturday), when they will host Panevėžys' "Ekranas" at home.
