Lithuanian national team forward Edgaras Jankauskas may leave the Edinburgh "Hearts" club and depart Scotland - player's agent spoke to the Scottish media about this possibility.
32-year-old E. Jankauskas was invited from "Porto" in 2005 by businessman Vladimir Romanov and moved to "Hearts" through the "Kaunas" club. It is believed that the player signed a two-year contract, so this summer he will become a free agent.
Scottish press quotes footballer's agent Paulo Barbosa's words that the Lithuanian may change the team and has already attracted the interest of the Spanish club Huelva's "Recreativo".
"I was in Germany to talk to the club during their training camp, and we have not yet decided whether Jankauskas will play for "Hearts" next year. There is a possibility that he may compete in another team. "Recreativo" is interested in him. Jankauskas will become a free agent, so he can do as he pleases. We don't know if Mr. Romanov wants to keep him, because if he becomes a free agent, it means we can find another solution," said P. Barbosa.
Champions League winner with "Porto" club E. Jankauskas appeared in the starting lineup only nine times this season for "Hearts" and did not play due to injury since the match against "Dundee Utd" in March. In Edinburgh, injuries often hindered the Lithuanian forward's career - he missed the beginning of this season and could not help his team for about a third of the previous season.
Two players who will definitely leave the "Hearts" club in the off-season are French midfielder Julien Brellier and Greek defender Takis Fyssas. Both players' contracts with "Hearts" end this summer, and both J. Brellier and T. Fyssas have already publicly confirmed that they will not be extended.
