The last four matches of the 9th round of the Russian Premier League were played on Sunday. Despite the opportunity to surpass the defending champions CSKA Moscow and rise to second place, Zenit St. Petersburg only managed a draw with Krasnodar's Kuban. Moscow's Lokomotiv moved up to sixth place by defeating Rostov, while Rubin Kazan climbed from the bottom of the table with a minimal victory.
