Liverpool club has released two football players. At the end of the season, contracts will not be extended with goalkeeper Richard Wright and Italian defender Alessandro Pistone.
31-year-old A. Pistone played for the "Irises" club since 2000, but since August 2005, when he suffered a knee injury, the Italian did not play any matches in the main team.
29-year-old R. Wright guarded the gates for "Everton" for the fifth season, arriving from "Ipswich" in 2002 for 5 million euros. However, coach David Moyes stated that he will soon be looking for a new goalkeeper. R. Wright spent a significant part of his career at Liverpool as the backup to other goalkeepers Nigel Martyn and Tim Howard.
D. Moyes also announced that he will offer contract extensions to two players - 29-year-old midfielder Lee Carsley and 35-year-old defender Alan Stubbs.
In the just concluded Premier League season, "Everton" finished 6th and won a spot in the UEFA Cup tournament.
