Australian national team striker Harry Kewell has expressed his desire to represent the team until the end of his career.
The footballer, who suffered a serious groin injury last summer and had not played since the World Cup, returned to the field a few weeks ago in a match against , and in the second match he forced the opponent's goalkeeper to work from the shoulder several times and scored a penalty securing the third place in the league.
After such a successful performance, the English team's coach Rafael Benitez admitted that he seriously considered the possibility of giving the player playing time in the UEFA Champions League final against AC Milan on May 23rd.
"If the opportunity arises for me to sign a contract until the end of my career, I would not hesitate to take it, as it is a fantastic club," said 28-year-old H. Kewell, whose contract expires in the summer of 2008.
The Australian also did not deny that he intends to represent his country in the Asian Cup in July.
"I have been resting for 11 months. I want to play football again, participate in competitions, and feel all that action again.
"I missed that a lot, and if the Liverpool management allows it, I will definitely play for the national team. It is a great opportunity."
