Football fans eagerly await the 2024 football festival - the Old Continent Football Championship. Football portal „EuroFootball.com“ decided to take a look at the upcoming tournament.
In December of last year in Hamburg, the draw for the "UEFA Euro 2024" took place, arranging the teams into six groups. However, not all the future participants are known yet - the remaining three teams will be determined after the knockout matches in March.
The "Euro 2024" football tournament will start on June 14th, with the final taking place on July 14th.
Germany, winners of the 1972, 1980, and 1996 championships, are the host nation for the tournament and they are in Group A alongside Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland. "Mannschaft" will play against Scotland on June 14th.
In Group B, two old rivals, Italy and Spain, will face off. These countries battled it out in the 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 championships. Croatia and Albania will try to challenge these ambitious teams.
The tournament favorite, England, will compete in Group C against Denmark, Slovenia, and Serbia.
Group D is also expected to be highly competitive, with France, the Netherlands, and Austria. The winner of the A knockout matches will join them.
By the way, England faced Denmark in the semi-finals of "Euro 2020," while France and the Netherlands competed in the same qualifying group.
Portugal, represented by Cristiano Ronaldo, will battle it out with Turkey and the Czech Republic in Group F, repeating the qualification from the "Euro 2008" tournament. In Group E, Belgium will face Slovakia and Romania. The winners of the B and C qualifying matches will join these two groups.
The group stage matches will take place from June 14th to June 26th.
After three days, the quarter-final matches will begin. The final match will be held at the famous Berlin Olympic Stadium, where the 2006 FIFA World Cup final was also held.
The remaining three spots
In the 2024 European football championship qualifiers, there are twelve teams remaining who will compete in March for three spots.
In the A qualifiers, Wales will face Finland, and Poland will face Estonia, with the winners facing off in the final.
In the B qualifiers, Bosnia and Herzegovina will clash with Ukraine, while Israel and Iceland will face off.
In the C qualifiers, there is a 75% chance that we will see a debutant team, as three of the four national teams have never competed in the European championship before.
In one semifinal, Georgia will play against Luxembourg, while Greece will face Kazakhstan in the other.
