In the team - concern. Safeguard Bolo Zenden, who has firmly established himself in the starting lineup at the end of the season, suffered a shin injury at a training camp in Spain and may be forced to miss the UEFA Champions League final match on Wednesday.
"The Dutchman injured his shin and is currently being treated by a doctor," said the club strategist Rafael Benitez. "At least it's good that the swelling is not significant.
"It is difficult to say for sure whether the defender will be ready for the final, but we cannot say the opposite either. He is strong and determined, so he may recover quickly. I hope so.
"The experience, character, and tactical preparation of B. Zenden are very important to us, so it would be very bad if he didn't play.
If the player still has to miss the match against Milan, R. Benitez will have several options on the left flank. Harry Kewell, who has shown good sporting form in a few matches after a serious injury, young Mark Gonzalez, and John Arne Riise, who can play as a left-back, giving way in defense to Alvaro Arbeloa.
However, R. Benitez also had much better news for Liverpool fans - the main goalkeeper Pepe Reina, who has recovered from a minor injury, will be ready to step onto the field.
"Both P. Reina and Jerzy Dudek are ready and can play. I am sure of that," said the Spaniard.
