The coach of the French club, Gerard Houllier, denied any rumors that he is planning to leave the French champions' team and move to another club.
"I will stay in Lyon. If we believed the rumors in the media, on Thursday I would have become the coach of Newcastle, on Friday of Kiev's Dynamo, and today, Saturday, of Man City," sarcastically said the Lyon coach.
G. Houllier confirmed that he has no intention of leaving: "Every day new rumors appear. All I can do is deny them. This morning I spoke with the club president and told him that all the rumors are not worth attention and are made up."
"At the moment, together with the entire coaching staff and management of the team, we are working purposefully and have already started preparing for the next season," said the coach of the French champions.
For its part, Lyon club released an official statement also denying any possibilities of the coach leaving: "The club is surprised by such publications and once again wants to repeat that Gerard Houllier will be coaching Lyon next season, as the contract is valid for another year."
The 59-year-old football specialist took over the reins of the Lyon club in 2005 and helped the team to become French champions for several seasons. As a coach, G. Houllier also triumphed in the French league in 1986 with PSG.
