In the 1st Lithuanian football league, five matches of the 6th round took place over the weekend. Even 3 out of 5 matches ended in a draw, and the other two were won by the visiting teams.
The leader of the championship Kėdainiai "Nevėžis" lost points for the second time in a row. Playing without several leaders, the team from Kėdainiai played a draw at home with Gargždai "Banga", which was their fourth draw.
After "Nevėžis", three teams lined up, each collecting the same number of points. These are "Kauno jėgeriai", who after a dramatic battle defeated "LKKA", Kaunas "Rodiklis" who lost to Alytus "Alytis", and Pakruojis "Kruoja", who will play their match on Wednesday against Klaipėda "Glestum".
In Tauragė, "Tauras" shared a point with Jonava "Lietuva". The guests equalized with a goal by Vaidotas Šlekys, who defended the colors of "Ekranas" last year.
In the second round in a row, the outsiders "Anykščiai" won a point. They played a goalless draw with "Vilkmergė" as guests. The Ukmergė team had a slightly greater advantage in gameplay and more shots on goal, but reliable goalkeeping by Anykščiai goalkeeper M. Petrauskas prevented the hosts from scoring.
"The team is showing better and better play. A point away is very important. As I mentioned, the team will not easily share points with anyone, and in the future it will be on a similar level with other teams in the I league and will definitely compete for medals," - the coach of "Anykščiai" Juozas Šiaučiulis praised the progressing team's game.
