Undoubtedly, the Azerbaijani football championship will receive attention from the European sports media these days. The reason for this is the protest action of the Zagatala team's "Simurk" football players.
During the 32nd round match on Friday evening against the Baku "Inter" home team, the players of the Zagatala team staged a true show. As soon as the match started, all eleven players of the Zagatala team on the field fell to the ground and sat there for a few minutes as if glued. They were joined by the substitutes.
The "Simurk" players decided to act like this after finding out that they would not be paid until the end of the season.
The opponents graciously accepted this action by their opponents – during the entire protest, they kept the ball in their own half.
Interestingly, when the Zagatala players got up, they started playing properly against their opponents. After conceding the first goal, they even managed to take the lead, but ultimately suffered a 2:3 defeat.
Out of the ten teams in the Azerbaijani championship, "Simurk" currently occupies fifth place.
