Kylian Mbappe was very close to moving to Madrid's “Real”, but ultimately decided to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The “Royal” club showed interest last summer, but the French champions then rejected an impressive €180 million offer. Speaking about the negotiations with K. Mbappe, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said he always knew that the player wanted to stay with the French champions. “Last summer, I turned down a €180 million offer from “Real” for Mbappe, because I knew he wanted to stay at PSG. I know Kylian and his family very well. I know he is not driven by money. Mbappe chose to defend the honor of his hometown team”, N. Al-Khelaifi told “Marca”.
The PSG president also responded to accusations from La Liga president Javier Tebas regarding the lack of compliance with financial fair play rules. “We do this because we know we can. I don't want to talk too much about other leagues or federations. We don't want others to work differently. Every year we hear similar things. We will continue to improve this project”, added the PSG president.
