Today, England's national team coach Roy Hodgson announced the 26 players who will prepare for the European Championship in France.
The biggest surprise was the inclusion of "Manchester United" representative Marcus Rashford in the team. The 18-year-old has never been called up to represent his country before. The forward has only played ten matches in the Premier League so far, scoring four goals.
Also included in the squad is Jack Wilshere, who has been recovering from injury this season and only appeared three times in the Premier League throughout the season. Unexpectedly, Andros Townsend was also among the 26 players, who lost his place in the main team of "Tottenham Hotspur" in the first part of the season and was sold to "Newcastle United". The last time he represented the national team was in the match against Lithuania, when he came off the bench and played for seventeen minutes.
All invited players to the national team play in their homeland, except for one player - goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who spent last season in the second-tier Championship league. "Liverpool" and "Tottenham Hotspur" clubs will have the most representatives in the national team, with five players each. "Manchester City" and "Manchester United" will send three players each to the national team, and two players - Jamie Vardy and Danny Drinkwater - from the league champions "Leicester City". Ten Premier League clubs will have their representatives in the national team.
Among the players missed by the English press in the national team are "Arsenal" representative Theo Walcott and "Everton" defender Phil Jagielka.
The final 23-player squad for the European Championship must be announced by May 31.
