The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is expected to reduce crime and improve the health of Russians, according to the country's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

The state plans to allocate at least 10 billion US dollars for infrastructure improvement, with preparations underway in 13 cities.

"There will be less crime, fewer drug users," said Putin. "This event will have a positive impact on our country."

Speaking about the conditions in which the tournament will take place, one of Russia's leaders said: "Everything we renovate or build will remain for people and serve for decades. Additionally, it will promote a healthy lifestyle."
