Former Real Madrid and Portugal national team coach Carlos Queirozas could take over the reins of the Iranian national team.
On Wednesday, the Portuguese watched a friendly match between Iranians and Russia and should decide in the near future whether he agrees to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Queirozas has been unemployed since last September when he was fired by the Portuguese Football Federation.
Iran is considered one of the strongest national teams in Asia, but they failed to qualify for the World Cup last summer and were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup in January.
