"Monaco" club shareholder and businessman Alessandro Proto revealed that the "Ligue 1" team tried to buy out the contract of London's "Chelsea" coach Jose Mourinho, but ended up with nothing.
The main reason - the owner of the "Blues" team, Roman Abramovich, demanded a sum that was hard to comprehend, even though Monaco representatives were ready to pay the last penny.
"We offered 50 million euros for the Portuguese to immediately move to our team. But we received an answer - pay 100 million. Unfortunately, this sum seems too inflated for Monaco," Proto said.
According to Abramovich, Mourinho is the best coach in the world, so he is worth much more than 50 million euros.
At the moment, "Chelsea" club is in 15th place in the "Premier League" and this season has already suffered 8 losses in all competitions.
