"Manchester United" experienced another drama in the English Premier League on Wednesday, though this time with a happy ending.
The "Red Devils" defeated Ipswich Town at home with a score of 3:2.
United was left to play with one man down at the end of the first half when Patrick Dorgu received a red card while Manchester was leading 2:1.
Shortly after, Ipswich equalized, but at the start of the second half, Harry Maguire scored a goal, which, as it turned out later, secured the victory for the hosts.
P. Dorgu not only earned a red card but also significantly contributed to Ipswich's first goal. Nevertheless, Man Utd's manager Ruben Amorim defended the rookie after the match.
"Dorgu is definitely ready for the Premier League, and he proved it during the first few games. Every player can make such a mistake. It's clear that he wanted to play the ball, but he did it somewhat carelessly and ultimately earned a red card," stated R. Amorim.
P. Dorgu's red card resulted in Alejandro Garnacho having to leave the pitch at the end of the first half, replaced by defender Noussair Mazraoui.
After such a decision, A. Garnacho headed straight to the locker room, and after the match, R. Amorim was asked about the Argentine's behavior.
"It's clear that I will have a conversation with Garnacho. I will be able to comment more on this in the next press conference. I understand that you are trying to compare this situation with Marcus Rashford's. Perhaps Alejandro just went to the locker room because the weather conditions were very bad.
I knew that by taking Garnacho off, I was taking a risk since he is probably the only player at the moment who can confidently play one-on-one. Still, I felt that we were controlling the game quite well even without this element.
I had to make a tough decision. In such situations, it's important to consider which players could be most dangerous during set pieces. In the end, I decided to take Garnacho off the pitch," added R. Amorim.
