After failing to acquire David De Gea for the "Real" club, coach Rafael Benitez expressed his satisfaction with Keylor Navas as his team's main goalkeeper.
On the last day of the transfer window, K. Navas was supposed to move to "Manchester United" as part of D. De Gea's transfer, but the clubs were unable to complete the formalities on time, so the transfer eventually fell through.
It has been announced today that D. De Gea has signed a new contract with "Manchester United."
"De Gea is a player of "Manchester United", but I am happy with my goalkeeper choice. Keylor knows that I value his abilities greatly. I hope he will play well. He has my trust," R. Benitez told journalists.
"Real" will face "Espanyol" on Saturday, but the royal club will be without James Rodriguez and Danilo, who suffered injuries during their national team duties.
However, R. Benitez believes that his team has enough good players who will be able to compensate for the absences.
"When Danilo left, he was not injured. Same with James. Now we have two injuries. We need to do everything to protect our players.
"Sometimes it's possible to protect them, and sometimes it just doesn't work out. We will need to find solutions for the future, but problems with national team matches will always exist," said the "Real" coach.
