Former star of the Dutch national team Ronald de Boer believes that current "Oranje" coach Guus Hiddink should be replaced by assistant Danny Blind.
In the last qualifying match for the 2016 European Championship, the Dutch team crushed the Latvian footballers with a score of 6-0, but before that they suffered shocking defeats against Iceland and the Czech Republic.
The Netherlands team also lost a friendly match 2-3 to the Mexican national team, and against the Latvians, Hiddink only fielded one defender who had played in the previous two games.
"Guus Hiddink is no longer as good," De Boer told Fox Sports.
"The coach has an idea and wants to move in a specific direction, but then he leads the team in a completely different direction."
"He decided that the defenders who played against Mexico were not good enough to play against Latvia. What kind of logic is that?"
"You start to build the team up a bit, and then you take out completely different players for the match."
"Depay, for example, performed in the match against Mexico. We definitely won't lose to Latvia, so we definitely should have let him play in that match."
"He is one of the biggest talents we have, and it would give him confidence. I think not allowing him to play against Latvia was a strange decision."
"I think it makes sense to give Danny Blind a chance. I am sure that Danny is capable of handling it."
