R. Di Matteo: "Schalke" aims to surprise champions led by C. Ronaldo, not in the best form

Gelsenkirchen's "Schalke" strategist Roberto Di Matteo spoke ahead of the upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter-final match, saying that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is not currently demonstrating his best game.

The Portuguese recently received the award for the best footballer in the world, but in the last three "La Liga" matches did not score a goal and disappointed many club fans, especially when he celebrated his 30th birthday immediately after a 0-4 loss to Atletico.

"Cristiano is a phenomenal player who can decide the outcome of a match by himself at any time," Di Matteo said on Tuesday.

"Despite the fact that his form is not as dazzling as usual, he can still bring victory in matches."

Although the forecasts for the German club are unfavorable, as last season Schalke lost to the Spanish capital team with a total score of 9-2, the coach hopes that his team will be able to give a serious challenge to the opponents.

"Our goal is to leave the field with a victory," added the Italian. "We want to exploit some weaknesses in the Real Madrid team."

"Of course, they are the favorites. They are defending the title of champions, but we will still go out to win."
