Despite the fact that Madrid's "Real" is currently in a rut, Raymond Domenech believes that the coach of this club, Zinedine Zidane, will not be fired.
Since taking over the reins of the main team in January 2016, the legendary midfielder has won seven titles and for the first time in history, triumphed twice in a row in the UEFA Champions League.
That's exactly what the former French national team strategist believes and convinces that Zidane will lead the "royal" club for a long time.
"Look at Sir Alex Ferguson - he also had problems," Domenech told Goal.com. "He might have been one or two matches away from being fired, he was at the bottom with Manchester United, but we saw what he did after that."
"Even the best coaches have problems, sometimes difficulties arise and you have to build everything again. It is impossible to win in Europe or become Spanish champions every season. It's hard to come to terms with, but he will have to do it."
"I think Zidane's situation will be different (from previous Real coaches - ed.). He was a great player in Madrid, won the Champions League twice. He won the league by beating Barcelona. He has a lot of time for the fans to forget that. It's more likely that players will be fired first, and then Zidane."
"Manchester United" and "Arsenal" have shown that patience with coaches can lead to success. Money makes people think they can create the best team in Europe overnight. No, they need time. It's true, I don't think the mentality will change."
"The media is now such that after one bad result, they say the problem lies with the coaches. Two bad results are a problem, and after three bad results they already want a new one (coach - ed.). This is a big problem."
Domenech previously coached Zidane in the French national team. He led the country's national team and in the 2006 World Cup final, when the Real coach scandalously headbutted Italian defender Marco Materazzi.
