R. Ferdinand: this year's "Premier" league is the weakest in the last 15 years © JumpStory

Rio Ferdinand is convinced that this season's Premier League is the worst in the last 15 years. He also believes that none of the current teams would be able to beat the 2008 Manchester United, the first Jose Mourinho team, or the 2003-2004 Arsenal club.

The former Manchester United defender emphasized the lack of elite players and the fact that the best footballers in the world prefer to play for Barcelona, Real, or Bayern rather than Premier League teams.

"Teams are not as good as they were 15 years ago. This year I see the worst Premier League football in a long time. All the best players in the world don't play in England. Maybe even the second best world class players don't play in the Premier League. When has that ever happened?

None of the teams from these years would beat the 2008 Manchester United team, they wouldn't defeat the 1999 United, they would lose to the first Mourinho Chelsea team and wouldn't beat the 2003-2004 Arsenal. That's a fact," Ferdinands said in the BT Sport studio.

Rio Ferdinand spent his entire career in the Premier League and played a total of 514 matches in the tournament. According to the matches played, the defender ranks seventh in Premier League history. The Englishman won the championship gold medals five times.
