Despite spending the last several meetings on the bench, Rio Ferdinand is delighted to have decided to move to London's Queens Park Rangers.
The 36-year-old defender signed a one-year contract with Harry Redknapp's team this summer, thus parting ways with the Manchester United team, where he spent twelve seasons. From the very beginning, the Englishman became an important player for QPR.
Although due to injuries and other troubles he last appeared in the starting lineup on October 5th, Ferdinand still does not regret coming to the capital.
"No footballer likes sitting on the bench. So, I would be lying if I said that I am completely satisfied with the situation of not being in the starting lineup," the defender told The Sun.
"When you enjoy all possible success in such a huge club like Manchester United for more than a decade, you will not hide the fact that it is somewhat of a step back."
"But do not misunderstand me by thinking that I regret moving to Loftus Road, because that is definitely not the case."
"I knew where I was going and I also knew that I would be in a club where I spend more time looking at teams higher up on the league table, rather than below."
"Moreover, I fully understood that I would not play in every match. At the age of 36, it's impossible."
